Prepare to Vectorize Wizard

Using the Prepare to Vectorize Wizard is the easiest way to vectorize an image. The wizard guides you through image quality improvements, (optional) background removal, and posterization for image colors prior to tracing.

  1. With an image selected, go to Image > Prepare to Vectorize Wizard.
The Prepare the Vectorize Wizard dialog appears.
  2. The wizard asks if you want to super size the image so no quality is lost during vectorization, and if you want to remove the background of the image using Fluid Mask. Make selections and click OK.
    The Supersize dialog appears.
  3. Set the values for edge sharpening, surface smoothness, and de-noising and click OK to continue. The changes can be previewed in the window to the right.
The image is filtered and the Fluid Mask window opens (if you selected yes to remove background).
  4. The image is separated into like-coloured cells that look like a stained glass window. Select areas to keep and remove by clicking the cells.
  5. When finished, go to File > Save and Apply.
The Fluid Mask window closes and the Posterize dialog appears.
  6. Select colors by choosing color 1, color 2, etc., and clicking the color in the top image, and when finished, click OK.
Note: When colors are selected, the preview is updated.
The image is filtered and the Vectorize Wizard dialog appears.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Double-click the image to launch the Accuscan SmartBar.
